Margret Preston

Wheel Flower ''Woodcut''
This piece of Art is by Margaret Preston in 1929. It's a Australian interpretation of flora. The art work is one part or section of a plant. The lines in this picture are flowing and it makes the leaves look like they are moving with the wind. She has made some of the the flowers look dead and some of them look like they are fresh.

Wassily Kadninsky

Wassily Kadninsky is a Russian painter, print maker and art theorist who lived in the 18 and 19 hundreds. One of his paintings is the Seeschlacht.

This picture is an abstract picture. The black bold lines are thick and straight. I think that this picture is done by lisening with one of Kadninsky five senses. This one is done by the sense of 'hearing'. This is most likely because the lines and shapes that he has used are not representing anything inparticular. He has used some water colours and different lines and all sorts of different tones in this peice of art work. The background tone is used with the toning of the paint. This peice of art work is actually a poster and so could be re printing into many thousands of other coppies. The type of music that he could have used is music that has different sounds. Different instruments for the different lines. The parts of the art work that stand out the most is the dark blue bold lines. they look like they are echoing.

Paul Klee, Twittering machine

This picture is by the famous German artist, Paul Klee This peice of art work, as you can see from the title is called 'Twittering machine'. You can see Paul Klee has used the colours so that the blue in the middle is your focus point and that the other colours such as the pinks and purples are the outer colours. Why do you think Paul Klee had named this peice 'Twittering Machine'? Mabye because of the features in the picture? I think that Paul Klee has named it 'Twittering Machine' because if you look in the picture on the right, you can see that the creatures are birds. The first word of the title expresses 'Twittering' Have you ever seen a bird twitter? The next question is 'So where is the machine?' Well, the second word of the title expresses a 'machine' You can see parts of a simple machine. The machine has a bottom and a handle on which the person would spin the handle causing the birds to twitter. Paul Klee is an amazing artist and has much potential in his art work.

Colours can be called different names!

Colours can be different. people may see them as just 'blue or yellow' but there is much more than just that one colour. For example, the colour blue can be called many differnt names like winter blue, cougar blue, heaven blue, calm blue, ocean blue and many more. When you see a colour next time, really look at it and see wheather you can match another name for it!

Can you find a different name other than blue for this balloon?

Vegetation and zooming in

In art this year, we have been studing about vegetation. We have sketched many drawings of plants and flowers. We have been trying to zoom into the object and really focus on one point. Later, we are going to make our very own lino print!

Georgia O'Keefe

Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist. This picture of a red poppy is just one of her wonderful peices of art. She studies mostly vegetation such as plants and flowers. She also zooooms into the object. She has focused into the petals with the vibrant colour of orange.
